UC Davis Arboretum Engagement Session with Megan and Brad.

This was a cute and fast morning session at one of my favorite locations to take photos. Brad and Megan nailed it, from the light outfits to their authentic love for each other, it flowed naturally.

What time is a good time for an engagement photo session you might ask? Although the majority of photographers (including me) LOVE the golden hour, which is usually 2 hours before sunset… mornings between 8-11 am work quite well too. Two caveats, however. 1) it’s best if the location has a lot of shade, such as a park with older trees or a street environment like downtown. 2) Photographing into the sun with the faces being in the shade, also known as backlighting the subjects.
There are other tricks photographers can use to get great photos in the pre-mid-day hours of the morning, but I won’t go into that here.

I can’t wait for their wedding day in the next several weeks, it’s going to be amazing!!!
